Hosepipe ban announced for Pembrokeshire and Carmarthenshire
——
Dwr Cymru has announced a hosepipe ban will come into force for Pembrokeshire and parts of Carmarthenshire.
The news follows as Pembrokeshire’s reservoirs are approaching a critical drought level.
Dwr Cymru has confirmed from 8am on Friday, August 19, a hosepipe ban will come into force for customers in Pembrokeshire.
The ban means customers will not be able to use a hosepipe to carry out activities in and around their properties such as watering plants or filling paddling pools or hot tubs.
Customers who break the hosepipe ban rule means they could face a fine of up to £1,000.
Ian Christie, Welsh Water’s managing director of water services said:
“Introducing the hosepipe ban is not a decision we have taken lightly, however if we are to make sure there is enough water to see us through the rest of the summer and into the autumn then we need to act now to try and prevent any further restrictions later on.
“We would urge everyone now across Pembrokeshire to respect the ban and not use a hosepipe.
“There are exceptions, particularly for those holding a Blue Badge or on our Priority Service Register.
