Lowri Evans, from Newport, is an entertaining and very successful acoustic performer of Roots, Folk, and Americana in both Welsh and English.
A decade or so ago she teamed up with talented guitarist Lee Mason after he heard her perform live in session on the BB Skone Show.
Since then they’ve released a series of critically acclaimed recordings and performed at festivals and major venues all over the world, including an impromptu set for Glastonbury organiser Michael Eavis in the USA.
Most recently they performed at the National Eisteddfod in Tregaron and on the main stage at the prestigious Cambridge Folk Festival with their wonderful, harmonious and melodic new band Tapestri, alongside fellow Welsh singer and keyboardist Sera Z whom they met when playing at a Celtic Festival in Brittany.
Tapestri’s next Pembrokeshire shows will be at Aberjazz Festival, Fishguard on August 28th, and a home town gig at Newport Memorial Hall on September 8th.
Lowri and Lee also collaborated with Mercury Prize and Brit Award nominee Tom McRae during lockdown to record a beautiful album, Only Skin, at Clarbeston’s StudiOwz.
The songs played this week on the BB Skone Show and other shows in the Artist of the Week slots features songs from all three collaborations – as a duo, with Tapestri, and with Tom McRae.
