In December 2021, the Pembrokeshire Association of Voluntary Services (PAVS) held their Annual Volunteer Awards Ceremony supported by South Hook LNG.
PAVS was established to support and develop voluntary action in Pembrokeshire. PAVS also provides an interface, or working relationship, between voluntary and statutory organisations.
At the Ceremony there were many awards up for grabs with numerous, worthy nominees in each category.
One outstanding Young
Volunteer from Paul Sartori Hospice at Home was nominated for the Young Volunteer of the Year award. Sarah Greener, despite her young age has been a volunteer at Paul Sartori for over 11 years.
Sarah started in their Sartori Store in Narberth at the age of 14. She has also volunteered for a number of other organisations including Templeton YFC and the Girl Guides, carrying out a variety of roles.
Sarah won the category and was presented with a fabulous trophy, designed and created by James Eifion Thomas, a Blacksmith from Newport, Pembrokeshire. Having faced health issues which changed her career path in medicine, Sarah overcame significant challenges and continued with her volunteering showing resilience and adaptability.
She is a true inspiration and is a fine example of what perseverance and positive thinking can achieve.
