Successful Open Day as guests visit new Homeless Pods
--
Dozens of people took the opportunity to look around the newly installed Homeless Pods in Hakin recently.
Pembrokeshire County Council held a well-attended open day on Friday 13th May 2022 where residents and interested parties were invited to have a guided tour of the pods.
There was also the chance to ask questions and have discussions with PCC staff members from Housing and Commissioning, as well as the external Support Provider.
Staff were busy throughout the day and visitors were able to experience what it would be like to stay in the pods and get a feel for the position of the site in relation to the local community.
Lots of great questions were asked - many of which staff were able to answer there and then - with further comments from visitors recorded for further consideration.
The Council thanks all those who attended.
Feedback was extremely positive, with the opportunity to see the inside of the pods and the set-up of the site, to help to ease any concerns.
Among comments received from those visiting was:
‘It was nice to be able to come and have a look around. They are lovely inside and anyone who manages to get one of these should be very happy.’
Plans to allocate the pods are progressing, with the first occupation date hoped to be late June / early July.
The pods will be allocated in accordance with homeless legislation.
Careful consideration will be given to ensure pods are allocated to those with very low level support needs.
Anyone who was unable to join the Open Day but has questions about the pods is urged to see the FAQ section on the PCC website:
