HAVERHUB at the old post office in Quay street, Haverfordwest is about helping get people together in the heart of their town, to socialise and enjoy a sense of belonging.
“We are so lucky to be working with a lot of locals who bring their ideas or talents to their hub – and these drop in sessions are a way of directly involving them in the big plans for the next couple of years.
Loads of people already enjoy Haverhub but we have a great deal of hidden potential that core team members have been dreaming about for years!
“our worry in the early days was keeping people dry and warm”
remembers director Jerry Evans. “But now we have a building on the riverside its time to pull it all together with great designs to see how many great spaces and facilities we can bring into the site for the community”.
This Wednesday 4 – 7pm in the depot and Thursday 12.30 – 4.30 in the Sorting office at Haverhub.
Gitti Coats, “the variety of people and groups coming to the hub and their suggestions already, on Facebook or in person, show the public are very creative and know how their town COULD improve. We feel our site, when renovated more, can fill lots of gaps. We hope people will drop in and see the spaces, jot down ideas, chat to us and ask any questions. We have online surveys and FB for anyone who can’t make it this week”.
“We’ve had a great start by architect Russell Jones who kindly did some models and probono feasibility study for us last year” explains Jerry, “ but while we cross fingers for recent grant applications to deliver the funds to move forward, we hope people will join our brainstorms to give the architect a really good idea of what the spaces need to deliver, once we get the green light”.
Latest space, former carpet warehouse on Quayside, behind post office, the rear courtyard
“Spaces we want to pick brains on include the currently in-use depot, bar and courtyard – and the latest space on the Quayside which is definitely too rough to use!” explains Ms Coats.

Many people locked in poverty or those who find themselves in times of crisis often experience restricted options. This leaves them caught between being able to heat their home, pay their rent, buy food or keep clean. Hygiene poverty can be shaming, humiliating, and excluding and can result in social isolation.
