GCSE exam success and career progression for Learning Pembrokeshire adult learners
--
As school learners across Pembrokeshire celebrated their GCSE exam success on Thursday August 24th, a small group of older learners also found out if they had been successful in maths and/or English GCSE.
The Learning Pembrokeshire team was delighted to congratulate many of their learners on achieving a Grade C or above this year.
Among those celebrating exam success were father and son learners Dieter and Logan Luke Jerome.
Success in maths and English GCSE means that learners can progress in education or employment.
For example, of the 19 adult learners who received results, one will start a PGCE, another become a Process Operator at Valero and one will fulfil a long held ambition to combine years of experience as chef with a nutrition course.
Another learner will progress in their National Health hospital career, one devote time to helping their nephews and nieces’ school work and another enrich their work as an LSA.
Every year a group of dedicated adults like these take time out of their busy lives and on top of work and family commitments, to attend an evening maths or English GCSE class.
Many of the learners are already contributing a great deal to the local community and success in GCSE allows them to continue to do so in new and valuable ways.
The Learning Pembrokeshire team sent congratulations to everybody who attended class and worked so hard to achieve their aims this year. Thanks also go to the hard working and inspirational tutors.
Maths and English GCSE classes resume in early September at Pembroke Dock and Haverfordwest Community Learning Centres Freephone 0808 100 3302 to find out more.
