Pembrokeshire's Under 11 schoolboy footballers to play at the King Power Stadium.
Leicester City may have been relegated from the Premier League, but football at the King Power Stadium will continue this weekend and some of Pembrokeshire’s brightest young players will be part of it.
A ‘Junior Play on the Pitch’ is taking place at the home of the Foxes on Saturday, involving the best young sides from all over the UK. And the same pitch that just seven years ago witnessed Leicester City famously lift the Premier League trophy, and hosted Champions League football the following season, will be used.
And Pembrokeshire players will have the chance to follow in the footsteps of the likes of Jamie Vardy by scoring in the 32,000 all seater Stadium. After four months of planning, and with the involvement of big local sponsors, the boys have raised the funds for another experience of a lifetime, following on from their trip to Norwich City’s Carrow Road last summer.
Pembrokeshire Schools Under 11s Manager Matthew Price said: “It’s been an amazing effort from all concerned to make the experience possible.
“A massive thank you to our main sponsors Minster Diesel Services, Veolia, Stena Line and Port of Milford Haven for their generous contributions. When you take into account the tournament entry fee, new kit, coach hire, hotel and the rest of it, you are talking thousands of pounds and without these companies, it wouldn’t be possible.”
Pembrokeshire squad: Noah Bicknell GK (Prendergast), Harri Jones GK (Holy Name), Cody James GK (St Oswald’s), Jamie Cook (Pembroke Dock), Toby Jones (Holy Name), Bobby Davies (Fenton), Oliver Piskorski (Mary Immaculate), Harri Atyeo (Ysgol Caer Elen), Isaac Jenkins (Ysgol Arberth), Iori Williams (Ysgol Arberth), Cai Price (Ysgol Caer Elen), Noah Evans (Fenton), Jaden Petrie (Prendergast), Osian Mills (Ysgol Caer Elen), Owain Banner (Ysgol Casmael), Joe Davies (Ysgol Glannau Gwaun), Zach Loveridge (Waldo Williams), Kieran Bevans (Gelliswick), Ethan Holmes (Milford Haven), Logan Lewis (Pembroke Dock), Jake Barrington (Ysgol Caer Elen), James Burns (Lamphey).
