Pembrokeshire pond restoration recognised with global sustainability award

A project to restore a historic millpond in Pembrokeshire has received international recognition after winning at the Global Sustainability Awards 2026 in London.
The restoration of Wallis Pond was jointly entered alongside Nestlé Waters & Premium Beverages UK’s River Ecclesbourne project in Derbyshire, with the two projects receiving the Nature-Based Solutions Award.
Wallis Pond had become heavily silted over a number of years, restricting the flow of water and limiting the range of habitats the site could support.
Working alongside Pembrokeshire County Council, Ambleston Community Council and Heavyside Services, the restoration involved re-digging and de-silting the pond and replacing its old sluice gate.
The work aims to allow the pond to carry out its natural function once again, while improving water quality, supporting biodiversity and making the area more resilient during storm events.
The restored pond has also become a place for local residents to spend time and observe wildlife returning to the area.

The Wallis Pond project forms part of Nestlé Waters & Premium Beverages’ wider commitment to protecting and restoring water resources, which includes its Narberth site where Princes Gate and Nestlé Pure Life water is bottled at source.
