National Lottery Funding Helps Teulu Wellbeing Launch Free and Subsidised Play Therapy for Pembrokeshire Families
Teulu Wellbeing & Child Therapy CIC is delighted to announce that it has been awarded funding from the National Lottery Community Fund to provide free and subsidised play therapy sessions for children and young people across Pembrokeshire.
The funding will enable local families to access professional therapeutic support at little or no cost, helping children who may be experiencing anxiety, bereavement, trauma, emotional difficulties, family change or other challenges affecting their mental health and wellbeing. By reducing financial barriers, the project will help ensure that children who need specialist therapeutic support can access it when they need it most.
Founded by qualified play therapists Beth Job (BAPT Registered Play Therapist) and Harriet Carr and Jackie Burns (both PTUK Certified Play Therapists), Teulu Wellbeing & Child Therapy CIC was established with a simple but powerful mission: to ensure every child has access to the emotional support they need to thrive, regardless of their family's financial circumstances.
Based in Pembrokeshire, the not-for-profit Community Interest Company provides child-centred, evidence-based therapeutic support, working alongside parents, carers, schools and other professionals to help children build resilience, confidence and emotional wellbeing. The founders bring a wealth of professional experience and are passionate about making early intervention accessible to families who might otherwise struggle to access specialist support.
Play therapy offers children a safe, supportive environment where they can express their feelings, process difficult experiences and develop healthy coping strategies through the natural language of play. Early therapeutic intervention can have a lasting positive impact on children's emotional wellbeing, relationships and future development.
A spokesperson for Teulu Wellbeing said:
"We know that many families are facing increasing pressures, and accessing mental health support can often feel out of reach. Thanks to National Lottery funding, we're able to remove financial barriers and offer children the opportunity to receive specialist therapeutic support when they need it most.
Our vision is simple: every child deserves the chance to feel safe, heard and understood. This funding means we can reach more children at the earliest opportunity and provide support that can make a lifelong difference for children, young people and their families."
The project aims to improve children's emotional wellbeing, strengthen family relationships and provide early intervention that can have lasting positive impacts on young people's lives while helping to reduce inequalities in access to children's mental health support across Pembrokeshire.
Families across Pembrokeshire are encouraged to contact Teulu Wellbeing to enquire about funded or subsidised play therapy sessions. As funding is limited, access to fully funded places will be subject to an eligibility assessment and criteria to ensure support reaches those children and families with the greatest need. Subsidised sessions will also be available for families who may not meet the criteria for fully funded support.
Teulu Wellbeing would like to thank National Lottery players, whose support has made this project possible and will help improve the lives of children and families throughout Pembrokeshire.
