PLANED and Parc Dewi Sant Carmarthen celebrate the official opening of Parc Dewi Sant Wellbeing Gardens

PLANED the community development charity and Parc Dewi Sant Carmarthen celebrate the official opening of Parc Dewi Sant Wellbeing Gardens by the Welsh Government health minister Mabon ap Gwynfor with free family fun morning event on Thursday the 13 th August.
PLANED's Carmarthenshire Living Well Centre, Parc Dewi Sant Wellbeing Gardens CIC and PSU Charity will host a free community wellbeing celebration on Thursday 13th August 2026, marking the official opening of the new Wellbeing Gardens at Parc Dewi Sant, Carmarthen.
Growing & Living Well Together runs from 10am to 1pm at the Carmarthenshire Living Well Centre, Building 1, Parc Dewi Sant, Carmarthen, and is open to all. Organisers are inviting families, friends and neighbours from across the county to come along, enjoy a great day out, and discover the free support and activities available in the community all year round.
The event opens at 10.15am with a ribbon-cutting ceremony and short welcome speeches, officially launching the new Wellbeing Gardens. From 10.30am, visitors are free to explore the Centre and gardens and take part in a packed programme of free activities, including:
  • Nature and gardening activities in the gardens
  • A history tour and talk
  • Lindy Hop dance sessions
  • A performance from the People Speak Up Choir
  • A silent disco
  • A bouncy castle
  • A visit from a Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue engine
  • A "Walk and Talk with a Doc" around the Centre's grounds and gardens
  • Crafts and gentle movement sessions with People Speak Up
  • Self-defence and arm-wrestling activities with Community Gym, promoting physical empowerment
  • A Men's Shed activity stand
A number of local organisations will also be on hand in the boardroom with information stands, including The Wallich, Nelson Trust, Foothold Cymru, Dolen Teifi, Delta Wellbeing, Parkrun and Dyfed Powys Police.
Free tea, coffee and cold drinks will be available throughout the day at the Centre and in the gardens, along with a raffle and cake sale to raise funds for the ongoing development of the gardens.
The celebration draws to a close with a thank you to all attendees at 12.30pm, followed by a final performance from the People Speak Up Choir at 12.40pm, before the event ends at 1pm.

Organisers are encouraging local people to share news of the event with family, friends and neighbours to help more people discover the free support and activities available on their doorstep.
