ELUNED MORGAN MS VISITS WOODY’S LODGE
Ahead of Remembrance Day, Eluned Morgan MS, Labour Senedd Member for Mid & West Wales, has visited Woody’s Lodge at Penlan Farm, Llandysul, to hear about their ambitious plans to expand their life changing support for veterans across Wales.
Woody’s Lodge has been awarded £181,000 as part of the £4.5 million allocated by the Office for Veterans’ Affairs through its Veterans’ Capital Housing Fund, under the Major Capital Grants programme.
The funding will be used to create four sustainable living units in a rural Welsh cottage, forming part of a holistic initiative to combat veterans’ homelessness. The 11 acre site will also serve as a training and skills facility, enhancing employability prospects for resident veterans and helping them rebuild independent, stable lives.
During her visit, Eluned met with veterans, staff and volunteers at Woody’s Lodge to hear about their work supporting those who have served, from providing housing and wellbeing support to helping veterans reconnect with their families and communities.
Eluned Morgan MS said:
“As we approach Remembrance Day, it’s important to remember that honouring our veterans means more than laying wreaths - it’s about ensuring those who served are supported in every aspect of their lives.
The work that Woody’s Lodge does is truly inspirational - offering a lifeline to veterans and their families, helping them find stability, community and purpose. This new investment will make a real difference, creating sustainable homes and new opportunities for independence.”
Woody’s Lodge, with hubs in South Wales (Barry: Amelia Trust Farm), North Wales (Colwyn Bay: Eirias Park) and West Wales (Penlan Farm, Llandysul), provides a safe and welcoming space for veterans, reservists, emergency service leavers and their families.
Through drop-in sessions, peer support, benefits and housing advice, and practical help with employment and wellbeing, Woody’s Lodge helps those who’ve served rebuild their confidence, independence and sense of belonging.
Eluned added:
“It was a privilege to meet some of the veterans who are benefitting from Woody’s Lodge’s incredible work. Their stories of resilience and recovery are a powerful reminder of why this kind of support matters.
Congratulations to everyone at involved for this well-deserved investment. Your compassion and commitment are helping to change lives - and as we come together this Remembrance Day, it’s heartening to see Wales leading the way in caring for those who served.”
