Mobile sauna proposed for Pembrokeshire beach

Plans have been submitted for a seasonal mobile sauna at Pwllgwaelod Beach, near Dinas Cross.

Wildwater Sauna Ltd is seeking permission from Pembrokeshire Coast National Park to operate the sauna at the Boat Yard for six months of the year, between December and May, for a temporary period of three years.

The proposed sauna would accommodate up to 10 people and would be built using charcoal-coloured treated timber on a moveable steel base.

Pre-application advice from the National Park raised concerns that the facility could be visually prominent from the coast path and beach.

However, documents submitted with the application say revisions to the design and use of sympathetic materials would help reduce its visual impact.

The applicants also argue the beach location is essential due to the connection between the sauna and the sea, and say the proposal would make a contribution to local tourism and the economy.
