Local Artist Of The Week: THE VARIFOLKALS

The Varifolkals is a five piece folk band from the Pembroke and Pembroke Dock areas. They are Davy (guitar/vocals), Mike (melodeon/vocals), Barney (violin/vocals), Sian (violin/vocals) and Dave (double bass).

Most of them are or have been members of well known acoustic roots bands from the south of the county, including Shanty Le Hara, The Vagrants Crew, Dead Men Walk In, The Barti Waves, La Volta, and The Swinging Nettles - a veritable folk super group!

Their repertoire ranges from traditional European tunes, through Appalachian ballads, to versions of rock songs.

All the songs played this week were recorded live in session for BB Skone at Haverfordwest's Black Label Studios.
