PEMBROKESHIRE TEENAGER SHORTLISTED FOR PRESTIGIOUS WELSH CHARITY AWARD!

Huge congratulations to Amélie Houghton from Tenby, who has been named a finalist for Young Volunteer of the Year at the Welsh Charity Awards 2026!

The 14-year-old has completed more than 500 hours of volunteering this year at Redberth Croft CIC, a not-for-profit community farm near Tenby supporting veterans, people with additional learning needs, those experiencing mental health challenges and others at risk of social isolation.

When the farm manager left, Amélie stepped up to help with daily animal care and volunteer sessions, making a real difference to people and animals in the community — all while studying for her GCSEs at Greenhill School!

Amélie says she hopes her nomination will raise awareness of the fantastic work Redberth Croft does to help people and animals find purpose and meaning.

She’s one of three finalists in the category, with the winner set to be announced at the Welsh Charity Awards ceremony in Cardiff on Thursday, October 15.

What an incredible achievement for such a dedicated young volunteer!

Best of luck, Amélie!
