Local Artist of the Week: BOX SET UK

George Whitfield of Narberth is a well known multi-instumentalist, vocalist, and songwriter on the Welsh music sce3ne. He's much in demand as an accordion player for recording sessions and gigs with the likes of Glen Peters, The Welsh Whisperer, the Lucky !2, and others.

George also gigs in his own right. He has just finished a weekly winter session at the Star in Narberth and has has been gigging far and wide with Box Set Uk alongside his old pal Tony from his Folk Rock band days, including Narberth's Food Festival and the Queens Hall.

Box Set Uk have just released an EP enititled Tennyson (pictured), on which the two men have put poems by the legendary poet Alfred Lord Tennyson to music. Available to download and stream on all the usual platforms, the EP is a thrilling mix of red hot accordion tunes, thumping guitar, and harmony drenched vocals with more mellow, absorbing numbers. You might be surprised by how many of these poems you know!

All the songs were played on the BB Skone Show of Sunday 15th February which is available on Catch-up and will be played on various shows here on PWR throughout the week.
