Popular Dads’ group adds new venues

A Pembrokeshire County Council initiative supporting dads has expanded its reach to more areas of the county.
Dads Together is run by the Early Intervention team and is a chance for dads (and grandads) to get outdoors with their babies and young children in a relaxed and supportive environment.
The group has been running at Havergardd, the town’s community garden, for some time and is now also available in St Davids and Manorbier. It is a chance to meet other local dads, chat and share experiences as well as enjoying messy play, planting and growing, in a relaxed atmosphere.
Cabinet Member for Communities, Cllr Sam Skyrme-Blackhall, said: “There has been a really positive uptake so far, along with some great ideas from the dads themselves about the kinds of activities they’d like to do. Making more use of outdoor spaces was high on the agenda, which is quite different from most of our Council run parent and toddler groups.
“There seems to be a real appetite for dads-only groups, as they create a very different dynamic and space for connection. It’s fantastic to see these new groups made available and hope they are enjoyed by as many dads and grandads as possible.”
The Haverfordwest group meets Wednesdays 9.30am to 11.30am, St Davids on Mondays 12.30pm to 2pm at Dewi's Acre starting 1 October and at Manorbier meet at the community garden at Giraldus Centre, Wednesdays 1pm to 2.30pm starting 23 September.
The team is also trialling an outdoor parent and toddler group – Little Explorers - so mums can get involved too. All are welcome to Havergardd Community Garden, Mondays 9.30am to 11.30am.
