Open Evening to Showcase Fully Funded Performing Arts Qualifications and Training Opportunities

Vision Education Open Evening Image

Young people, parents and aspiring performers from across Pembrokeshire are invited to attend the Vision Education Foundation Open Evening on Wednesday 17th June at Vision Studios, Haverfordwest.

Running from 4.30pm to 9.00pm, the event will provide an opportunity to explore an exciting new range of qualifications, training programmes and career pathways designed to support the next generation of performers, creatives and theatre professionals.

Vision Education Foundation is a newly established registered charity dedicated to making high quality performing arts education accessible to all. The charity has been created to remove barriers to participation and provide ambitious young people with opportunities to gain qualifications, develop industry relevant skills and build confidence through exceptional arts training.

Vision Education Foundation has been created to work alongside existing schools, colleges and training providers, helping to fill gaps in provision and create additional opportunities for young people. Whether a student attends a school that does not offer a particular subject, is home educated, or simply wants to access specialist performing arts training outside of school hours, Vision Education Foundation aims to provide pathways that might not otherwise be available.

Thanks to funding secured by the charity, a limited number of fully funded places are now available across a range of programmes launching this September. Students accepted onto these programmes will have their tuition costs covered, making high quality arts education accessible regardless of financial circumstances.

Visitors to the Open Evening will be able to meet Creative Director Drew Baker and members of the Vision Education Foundation team, explore the courses on offer, learn about progression routes into higher education and professional training, and discuss individual aspirations and career goals.

Courses launching this September include:

• BTEC Level 3 Performing Arts (Acting and Musical Theatre Pathways)
• GCSE Drama
• GCSE Dance
• GCSE Music
• GCSE Drama (Welsh Medium)
• Technical Theatre Award

The flagship BTEC Level 3 Performing Arts programme has been designed to provide a professional training environment for students considering careers within the creative industries. Students will have the opportunity to train with experienced tutors, work alongside visiting industry professionals and gain practical performance experience through fully staged productions.

Students following the Musical Theatre pathway will receive weekly private singing tuition, weekly song portfolio sessions and perform in two fully staged musical productions during the course.

Students following the Acting pathway will benefit from weekly private acting tuition, monologue development sessions and the opportunity to perform in two full scale theatrical productions.

Alongside performance training, Vision Education Foundation is also committed to developing future theatre makers through its Technical Theatre Award, which offers practical training in lighting, sound, stage management, set construction and backstage operations.

Drew Baker, Creative Director of Vision Education Foundation, said:

"Vision Education Foundation has been created because we believe every young person should have access to arts education, regardless of their background or circumstances.

The performing arts develop confidence, communication skills, creativity, teamwork and resilience, alongside preparing young people for further study and employment.

We are not seeking to replace the fantastic work already taking place within our schools and colleges. Instead, we want to complement that provision by offering additional opportunities, specialist training and qualifications for young people whose aspirations and interests lie within the creative industries.

We are incredibly excited to welcome prospective students and their families to our Open Evening and to share our vision for the future of performing arts education in Pembrokeshire."
