New Haverfordwest Transport Interchange to open on Friday

Haverfordwest’s brand-new public transport interchange, Glan yr Afon/Riverside, will officially open from 2pm on Friday 18th September.

The new facility includes a modern bus station and spacious multi-storey car park, with one hour of free parking available. Bus services will begin operating from the interchange on Monday, 21 September.

Facilities include upgraded waiting areas, public toilets including a Changing Places toilet, EV charging infrastructure, improved lighting and extensive CCTV coverage. A caretaker will be based on site, while a Dyfed-Powys Police PCSO will also have a dedicated office at the facility.

The project, built by Kier Construction, forms part of the wider regeneration of Haverfordwest and has received £16.894 million through the Welsh Government’s Local Transport Fund, alongside £1.987 million in match funding from Pembrokeshire County Council. A further £1.2 million of Transforming Towns funding has supported public realm and Prendergast Connectivity Bridge improvements.

Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Education and Regeneration, Cllr Paul Miller, said: “This project is about much more than a bus station and car park.

“It is about making Haverfordwest easier and more convenient to visit, supporting local businesses and continuing the wider regeneration of our county town.”

The car park will operate 24 hours a day, with charges starting at £2 for two hours following the first free hour. It will be cashless and operate using number plate recognition, with motorists paying at the terminal on their return.

Blue Badge holders will receive an additional hour of free parking by scanning their badge at the payment terminal.
