Local Artist Of The Week: DEWIN

With the National Eisteddfod returning to Pembrokeshire this Summer it is apt that a local band will be hosting a unique evening at that festival of all things Welsh.

That band is Dewin from the north of the county - Jencyn Corp and Lefi Dafydd have created a quirky, experimental band, they are as famous for their ambitious, whimsical song-writing as they are for their cagoules!

They have just released their debut album - Dan y Dderwen - on Cardigan's Fflach community owned record label. All songs played this week are taken from it.

On the songs they are joined by a host of young local musicians - Mefin Hughes (Lafant & The Dhogie Band), Dylan Sanders-Swales (PWR award winning drummer), Reuben Wilsdon-Amos (The Dhogie Band & Mustard Mitt) and a number of siblings!

Dewin describe themselves thus -  "we exist in our own genre – Wizard-pop. Our live performances are a tour-de-force of colourful cagoules, titillating jazz harmonies, funky funky drumming, jazz organ solo battles, poetry, and our very own symphonic wind band (more or less). All in Welsh, of course. Our set is a fantastical journey from church to heartbreak, and from the ozone layer to the sweltering heat of the desert as we try to find our magical home under the oak tree, where we can be happy and in harmony with nature."
