Charles Street development (70–80 Charles Street), including planned road closures and fire safety arrangements during the works.

THOMAS DRIVEWAYS ROAD CLOSURE Davies Road Closure
As part of the fire safety strategy, weekly fire alarm testing will take place every Thursday at 10:00am, beginning on 28th May 2026.
If the alarm sounds outside of this time, a member of the site management team will attend and inform you whether it is a false alarm or not. In the event of a genuine emergency, the team will advise whether evacuation is required and will contact the fire brigade directly in all cases.
Designated muster points have been established at the junctions of Fulke Street and Charles Street, Charles Street and Priory Street, and Hamilton Terrace and Barlow Street. Temporary fire exit routes will also be in place as part of the site procedures.
In addition, there will be a series of temporary road closures to facilitate timber-frame installation works. These will take place during normal working hours as previous, with the road reopening each evening and on any days when cranage is not required.
The current planned dates are as follows:
Monday 18th May to Wednesday 20th May (3 days)
Wednesday 27th May to Friday 29th May (3 days)
Thursday 4th June to Friday 5th June (2 days)
Friday 12th June (1 day)
Monday 15th June to Tuesday 16th June (2 days)
Friday 19th June (1 day)
Monday 22nd June to Tuesday 23rd June (2 days)
Monday 29th June to Wednesday 1st July (3 days)
Friday 3rd July (1 day)
Monday 6th July to Friday 10th July (5 days)
Additional time has been built into the programme to allow for any potential weather disruption, and where possible, roads will be reopened on days when lifts are not required.
