Hywel Dda Health Charities, the official charity of Hywel Dda University Health Board, has funded games and activities worth over £300 for Withybush General Hospital’s Ward 12, which provides frailty and dementia care for older adults.
The games and activities – which include a bingo machine, dominoes, puzzles and paint items – will be used to give patients with dementia and Alzheimer’s more independence, provide stimulation and offer distraction for them.
Zoe Griffiths, Ward 12’s Senior Sister, said: “The activities will enhance the experience and wellbeing of patients and staff on the ward who will be able to benefit from some independence and fun activities.”
She added: “The frailty activities will enable the team on Ward 12 the opportunity to provide a positive patient experience. They will also allow our patients to express themselves creatively and to find calm.
Nicola Llewelyn, Head of Hywel Dda Health Charities, the official charity of Hywel Dda University Health Board, said: “The support of our local communities enables us to provide services over and above what the NHS can provide in the three counties of Hywel Dda and we are extremely grateful for every donation we receive.”
