Local DJ and Entertainer Gina Jones Celebrates 30 Years in the Disco Business
Pembrokeshire entertainer marks three decades of bringing music, fun and memories to celebrations across the county
Local DJ and entertainer Gina Jones is celebrating an incredible 30 years in the disco and entertainment business, marking three decades of music, dancing, laughter and unforgettable memories for thousands of people across Pembrokeshire.
The milestone comes shortly after Gina celebrated another important birthday — turning 50 — making this a particularly special year for the well-known local entertainer.
Over the past 30 years, Gina has built a reputation for helping people celebrate some of the most important occasions in their lives. From children’s birthday parties and weddings to adult birthdays, christenings, fundraisers and community events, Gina has provided entertainment for a huge variety of audiences and occasions.
For Gina, being a DJ has always been about much more than simply playing music.
“I absolutely love what I do,” says Gina. “To be able to be part of people’s special occasions and see everyone enjoying themselves, dancing, singing and having fun is what makes it so worthwhile. I’ve met so many amazing people over the last 30 years and have made some fantastic memories along the way.”
Gina’s career has also seen her become a familiar voice on radio here in Pembrokeshire.
She previously worked with Haven FM then launching Radio Pembrokeshire, before joining Pure West Radio, where she has now been entertaining listeners for the past five years.
Gina currently presents the Gina & Tom Breakfast Show with Tom Dyer bringing music, chat and plenty of entertainment to listeners every weekday morning from 7am until 10am.
To celebrate reaching 30 years in the disco business, Gina wanted to do something that would not only mark her own achievement but also give something back to a local organisation.
She launched a competition inviting nominations for a Pembrokeshire group to win a free disco celebration.
The winners were My Moves Dance, who were themselves celebrating an important milestone — 10 years of dance and movement for people with additional needs.
The partnership made the celebration particularly meaningful, bringing together two local milestones and giving Gina the opportunity to celebrate her 30 years alongside a group doing such important work in the community.
Gina and My Moves Dance came together for a special celebration at The Pill Social Centre in Milford Haven.
The event saw members enjoying singing along on the karaoke, dancing on the dancefloor and, having fun naturally, finishing the celebrations with cake!
For Gina, it was the perfect way to mark three decades in the entertainment business.
