Local Artist Of The Week: SPUTNIK WEAZEL

Sputnik Weazel, who lives near Carmarthen, is a talented multi-instrumentalist, singer and songwriter. He previously performed with Folk-Punk pioneers The Men They Couldn't Hang, collaborated on an album with Luke Rhinehart, author of the acclaimed novel The Dice Man, and is also drummer with local outfit the Low Down Dirty Dog Blues Band.

Sputnik has just released his 24th (!) solo album, More Famous Than Tim's Nan, and its songs from this which are featured this week. The songs, reminiscent of the socio-political work of Billy Bragg and others of the post-Punk generation, are often autobiographical, ironic, full of fun, and a labour of love.

Sputnik is joined by several local musicians on the album, including Liz Crippin of acoustic duo Cadence, an album which is available from the usual platforms.
