Local Artist of the Week: AL DAVEY JNR.
Al Davey Jnr., the 'Tenby Troubadour' is well known around Pembrokeshire venues playing as a solo artist performing a mix of Rock and Country. He's also fronted several bands, one of which recorded an album called 'Thanks Hank', a tribute to Hank Williams, and his latest outfit, the Bayou Boyos, in which Al continues his collaboration with Richard Howell, legendary local lap steel player, has a Sunday night residency at the Lifeboat Tavern, Tenby.
The songs chosen this week highlight the breadth of Al's repertoire. '4+20', a Stephen Stills cover, was recorded live at the Plash Inn, Llanfallteg, 'Tenby Blues' finds Al channelling his inner Woody Guthrie via Bob Dylan, and 'Long Gone Lonesome Blues' is from his Hank Williams tribute CD.
