Choice Homes Pembrokeshire applicants need to reapply to join Housing Register

New House
Applicants on the Choice Homes Pembrokeshire Housing Register are being advised that a new application process begins from today, Monday July 27 2026.
Over the coming week, current applicants should look out for an email or letter from the Housing Team explaining how to reapply and join the new housing register.
Why has the policy changed?
Pembrokeshire County Council, in partnership with local housing associations, has approved a new Choice Homes @ Pembrokeshire Allocations Policy, which sets out how social housing will be allocated and how applicants will be prioritised based on housing need and local connection to the county.
Demand for social housing in Pembrokeshire has increased significantly in recent years, with more households experiencing homelessness, living in temporary accommodation, or residing in unsuitable housing conditions.
The new policy, which comes into effect in October 2026, has been developed collaboratively by Pembrokeshire County Council, ateb, Wales & West Housing, Barcud, Caredig and Codi Housing Associations.
It reflects increasing pressures on housing and homelessness services, as well as recent changes to Welsh housing legislation. Pembrokeshire County Council administers and registers applications on behalf of all Registered Social Landlords operating within Pembrokeshire.
In addition, new legislation, including the Homelessness and Social Housing Allocation (Wales) Act 2026, requires councils to strengthen their housing allocation processes.
Who does this affect?
This change affects:
· Anyone with a current Choice Homes Pembrokeshire housing application.
· Anyone wishing to submit a new application to join the Choice Homes Pembrokeshire Housing Register.
What applicants need to do
Between today Monday July 27 and Friday July 31 2026, all existing Choice Homes Pembrokeshire applicants will receive an email or letter from the Housing Team explaining how to begin the reapplication process.
The first stage is to complete a pre-application, which will assess whether the applicant meets the local connection criteria.
As part of this process, applicants will be asked to upload documents demonstrating their connection to Pembrokeshire.
The pre-application is the first part of a two-stage process. Once completed, the Housing Team will review the information provided before inviting applicants to submit a full housing application.
The new process has been designed to make applying as straightforward as possible.
Where appropriate, some information already held by the Housing Team will be pre-populated, allowing applicants to confirm or update their details.
Applicants are encouraged to complete the process online by registering for a Housing Online account at www.choicehomespembrokeshire.org
For any applicant who are unable to complete the process online, a dedicated telephone support line has been established to answer questions about the policy changes: 01437 776603.

The Housing Team will be hosting a series of roadshow events across the county to provide support and guidance to applicants.
