Paul Davies MS continues campaign for better rail services in west Wales

Paul Davies MS has stepped up his campaign for better rail services in west Wales, calling for a review of rail provision amid continuing concerns from passengers over the frequency and reliability of services.

The Member of the Welsh Parliament for Ceredigion Penfro raised the issue during Business Statements in the Senedd, (Tuesday 22nd September) highlighting concerns brought to him by constituents who rely on rail services across west Wales.

Mr Davies has previously raised problems affecting passengers, including cancelled services, a lack of replacement transport and journeys terminating before passengers reach their intended destination.

His latest intervention forms part of his ongoing efforts to secure a more reliable and accessible rail network for communities across Ceredigion Penfro and the wider west Wales region.

Mr Davies said:

“People across west Wales have been putting up with unreliable and inadequate rail services for far too long, and I continue to hear from constituents who have been badly let down.

“I have raised these problems before, including cancelled trains, journeys terminating early and passengers being left without suitable replacement transport. These are not minor inconveniences – they can have a very real impact on people trying to get to work, attend appointments or simply get home.

“For a rural area like Ceredigion Penfro, good transport links are essential. If we want people to use public transport, then services have to be frequent, dependable and available when people actually need them.

“That’s why I am continuing to press for a review of rail provision across west Wales and for action to improve the frequency and reliability of services.

“West Wales must not be an afterthought when decisions are made about our rail network. Passengers here deserve a service they can rely on, and I will continue raising their experiences in the Senedd and pressing for the improvements our communities need.”

Mr Davies has said he will continue to raise constituents’ experiences with the Welsh Government and press for improvements to rail connectivity across Ceredigion Penfro.
