Arrest of Two Individuals on Suspicion of Shoplift Offence, following Rapid Response of Roads Policing Unit

Dyfed-Powys Police received a report of a high value shoplifting offence at the Co-op store in Kilgetty at around 3.35pm on Wednesday, 28 January.

A large amount of alcohol as well as other items had been taken from the store.

Working on information provided by the caller, officers from the Roads Policing Unit (RPU) were able to swiftly work closely with control room staff and identify a vehicle of interest and mobilise several cars to locate the vehicle a short time later, heading east. The safety of all those involved was the priority, and specialist Tactical Pursuit and Containment (TPAC) advice was obtained. Following constant observation of the vehicle as it travelled, three RPU cars successfully stopped it safely on a back road approaching Hendy , with no damage or injuries.    

Officers carried out checks at the roadside, and as a result of the stop two individuals, a 67-year-old man and a 46-year-old man, were arrested on suspicion of theft from a shop, and remain in police custody at this time, whilst enquiries continue.  

Thanks to the rapid response of our specialist RPU, officers were able to act promptly on intelligence – tackling crime and helping to prevent further offences.
