Local Artist Of The Week - Sunday 1st November: George Whitfield

George Whitfield is a multi-talented accordion player who lives in Narberth and performs solo or with his current duo Box Set UK. He has performed in the past with his other bands Fiddlebox and Bluebox and is much in demand as a session player in all genres of music - his credits include working with Glen Peters, The Welsh Whisperer, and The Lucky 12.

He repairs and restores accordions as well as other instruments such as keyboards and also makes his own, occasionally wacky, instruments like slide guitars and penny whistles.

George writes and sings his own material. Something he did last week when he recorded a live session for the BB Skone Show at Black Label Studios. Five songs played on five different accordions! All the songs played this week are taken from that session. The full session, complete with fascinating interviews can be heard on Catch-up; search for BB Skone's Pembrokeshire Music Show of Sunday 1st November.
