Major railway closures across West Wales this November

Web (20)

Rail passengers across west Wales are being urged to plan ahead as Network Rail prepares to carry out major engineering work throughout November.

The essential maintenance programme will see several railway closures, including a week-long closure between Whitland and Pembroke, alongside two weekend closures affecting all railway lines west of Carmarthen.

𝗞𝗲𝘆 𝗰𝗹𝗼𝘀𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗲𝘀:

Sunday 1st November: All railway lines west of Carmarthen will close until the early hours of Monday 2nd November.

Friday 6th – Saturday 14th November: The Whitland to Pembroke line will close from 11:30pm on Friday 6th November until 5:45am on Saturday 14th November.

Sunday 15th November: All railway lines west of Carmarthen will close again until the early hours of Monday 16th November.

The work will include renewing approximately 1,800 metres of track, replacing railway components at Tenby and Whitland, installing new rail at Llanion and carrying out vegetation management along the route.

Network Rail says the improvements are essential to maintaining the safety and reliability of the railway, with several projects being completed together to minimise future disruption.

James Booth, Programme Manager at Network Rail, apologised for the inconvenience and thanked passengers for their patience.

Rail replacement buses will operate during the affected periods.

Passengers are strongly advised to check their journeys before travelling by visiting www.nationalrail.co.uk.
