A 59-year-old man has been given a suspended prison sentence after targeting Mid and South Pembrokeshire MP Henry Tufnell with a threatening message at his Haverfordwest constituency office.

Michael Glover, of no fixed abode, appeared before Swansea Crown Court after admitting racially aggravated harassment and possession of an axe in a public place.

The court heard that Glover attached a bag containing an abusive handwritten note to the MP's office door in Swan Square in March 2025. The message targeted Mr Tufnell for being English and suggested that Glover knew the whereabouts of his family home.

The following day, Glover visited the William Owen pub in Haverfordwest carrying an axe, which he later displayed in front of another person.

During the hearing, Mr Tufnell revealed that the incident had left him concerned for the safety of his wife and young child, particularly when travelling away from home for work.

The court also heard that Glover had been experiencing mental health difficulties and frustration surrounding delays to a Blue Badge application.

Judge Mark Powell KC sentenced Glover to six months in prison, suspended for 12 months, and imposed a five-year restraining order preventing him from contacting the MP.

The judge emphasised that elected representatives should be able to carry out their duties without facing threats or intimidation.
