Match Report: Crymych FC 4–1 Llechryd AFC 23-08-25
Crymych FC maintained their 100% start to the season with an impressive 4–1 victory over Llechryd AFC, making it three wins from three games after a relentless opening week of fixtures.
It was the visitors who struck first in the 20th minute through Will Evans, who produced a superb solo goal. After a Crymych corner was cleared, Evans picked up the ball inside his own half, drove forward
with purpose, and carried it all the way to the edge of the box before finishing past Crymych goalkeeper Elis Williams to give Llechryd a surprise lead.
Crymych responded strongly, showing both resilience and attacking quality. The equaliser came in the 29th minute when a corner wasn’t cleared properly; Rhodri Llyr George reacted quickest, picking up the
loose ball and firing into the bottom left corner via a deflection off a defender. Just five minutes later, Crymych produced a flowing move to turn the game around — a quick breakaway involving Sam Phillips and Ross McDonald, who drew the defender before squaring for George to finish coolly from the edge of the box, giving the home side a 2–1 lead.
Crymych then extended their advantage in the 39th minute, when another
corner caused problems for the Llechryd defence. The near-post delivery wasn’t dealt with, and Gethin Dafydd Evans rose highest at the back post to head home Crymych’s third.
Despite missing chances to kill the game earlier, Sion Dafydd Vaughan sealed the points in the 87th minute with a touch of class. Sent through one-on-one with the keeper, he kept his composure and executed
a delightful lob to make it 4–1, a deserved reward for his persistence.
The victory leaves Crymych with three wins from three, a dream start to the season despite the heavy schedule of playing three matches in seven days. The team now earns a welcome weekend off before returning to action on Tuesday, 26th August, when they travel away to face Cardigan in their next league fixture.
