Pembrokeshire Performer Returns Home with Hit Musical Comedy
Pembrokeshire-born performer Emily Davis is bringing her hit one-woman musical comedy Escape the Rat Race! to Newport Memorial Hall for one night only on Saturday 28 June.
Fresh from acclaimed performances at venues including the Wales Millennium Centre, Phoenix Arts Club, and Toulouse Lautrec Jazz Club, Emily returns home ahead of her run at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe with a show that’s part stand-up, part musical, and 100% relatable.
Escape the Rat Race! follows Blodwen Cadwalader, a Pret-fuelled, KPI-crushing Welsh woman who’s done everything ‘right’ in the corporate world — until burnout hits and a disastrous sailing trip throws her off course. What follows is a joyful, satirical and unexpectedly moving journey about shaking off what the world tells you to want, and finding freedom on your own terms.
Emily says: “It’s such a privilege to bring this show back to Pembrokeshire. I wrote it as a love letter to anyone who’s ever felt burnt out, boxed in, or unsure of what they’re really chasing. And there’s something really special about sharing that story back home.”
Powered by witty writing, original music, and a knockout solo performance, Escape the Rat Race! is a soulful, smart, and laugh-out-loud ride. At its core, the show is about letting go: of expectations, of toxic ambition, of the “ladder” — and finding peace, purpose, and power in unexpected places.
Catch Escape the Rat Race! at Newport Memorial Hall, Pembrokeshire, on Saturday 28 June at 7:30pm.
