MILFORD HAVEN SET FOR A BUMPER WEEKEND OF CARNIVAL FUN!
MILFORD HAVEN SET FOR A BUMPER WEEKEND OF CARNIVAL FUN!
--
Milford Haven is off “To the Sea” on Saturday 2nd July as Milford Haven Round Table’s annual Carnival returns after a two-year break looking refreshed, bigger and brighter than ever before!
Round Table Chairman, Richard Johnson commented: “It gives me great pleasure to see Milford Haven’s Carnival back after a two-year hiatus.
The boys of Round Table have been working extremely hard to bring you this year’s event which promises to be one of the biggest
and best yet!”
This year’s procession takes on an exciting new route which will see Charles Street now a great vantage point and the chance for businesses to get involved in the Carnival fun.
In partnership with Visit Milford Haven, there will be a “Best Dressed Business” competition which will hopefully see shops, pubs, charities, and organisations dress up their shop fronts, windows and premises to create some Carnival spirit.
Judging will take place on Carnival Day with the town’s Mayor awarding the trophy and a £50 voucher to the winning business.
Family-fun is the order of the day with Richard continuing: “we’ve got an amazing parade with floats from all sections of the community, acrobats, circus skills workshops, animal club, a live giant graffiti wall, live music on the Pure West Radio stage, street food and an amazing ‘fly board’ act out on the water throughout the afternoon we guarantee there will be lots of fun for all the family so join us on the stunning Milford Waterfront and make some memories with Milford Round Table!”
Another big new addition to celebrate the return of the Carnival is the launch of Milford’s Unsung Heroes.
Richard explained: “This new element will allow everyone in our community to
nominate the people that make a difference to the lives of people in Milford Haven. We want to thank them for their long-standing hard work or unseen acts making a difference, they will
experience a Carnival Day to remember as well as a £100 donation to a charity of their choice.
The categories for the nominees are Young Person (up to age of 18), Sports, Community and Act of Kindness.
So, if you know someone who goes that extra mile, inspires young people in your local club, works tirelessly for a charity of organisation and has achieved extraordinary
things for Milford Haven then we want to know.”
The closing date for applications is the 27th
June and they must be available on the 2nd July for Carnival Day, you can nominate via the Round Table Facebook Page.
The Carnival procession will leave Waterloo Square at 1pm head across Hakin Bridge, up
Hamilton Terrace, down Charles Street and Dartmouth Street before arriving at the new
Carnival Arena on Milford Waterfront. Entry to the Arena is £1 for adults and 50p for children.
