To mark Shwmae Day on October 15th, Pembrokeshire County Council and Menter Iaith Sir Benfro have come together to create a Shwmae rock trail, this time for learners and their families to explore locations linked to significant people or fantastic tales from Pembrokeshire.
There is plenty to discover about our unique county, from the first man to fly to a present Wales football player; and from a life-saving mermaid to the Twrch Trwyth - a wild boar hunted through the Preseli Hills.
Shwmae Day is a celebration of the Welsh language and is celebrated annually on the 15th of October.
As such, starting on Waldo Williams Day on September 30th the Welsh language mascots - Seren and Sbarc, will be announcing daily clues to the rock locations and facts for parents to share with their children.
Catrin Phillips, one of the organisers, said: “Hundreds of children enjoyed searching for the stones and learning about Pembrokeshire last year, so we were keen to provide the opportunity once again for everyone of all ages to get around our beautiful county and learn some of the rich history of the area and of course take part in our selfie competition!"
Visit https://www.facebook.com/shwmae for the daily clues and interesting facts and also the competition details so that you can also take a 'Pembrokeshire Shwmae' selfie!
Shwmae rocks again!
