In September 2022, local fundraiser Mike Hamilton, took on another epic challenge to raise vital funds for local Hospice at Home charity. Mike not only climbed Cader Idris, but he also climbed Snowdon, and he completed both within 2 days. In total that equates to 6,490 foot of elevation.
Mike once again chose to raise funds for Paul Sartori Foundation, as they had provided care for his wife in 2017 when she became unwell and unfortunately passed away. He is forever grateful of the support him and his family received during this difficult time. Mike raised a staggering £1,223.75 for the Pembrokeshire based charity.
Mike Hamilton said “I would like to thank all my friends who sponsored and supported me though this extremely tough walk, the walking was a challenge but the aches and pains a few days later certainly let me know that I am not that young anymore.”
“We are very grateful to people like Mike, and our other fundraisers in Pembrokeshire that give up their time to do fundraising events for Paul Sartori. The monies raised is used to provide Hospice Care within the homes of end-of-life patients in Pembrokeshire. Paul Sartori Foundation supports families to care for their loved ones at home with Hands On Nursing Care, Equipment Loan and other supportive services such as Bereavement Counselling, Advance and Future Care Planning and Complementary Therapies. Without the generosity of the people of Pembrokeshire we would not be able to provide this very necessary service in the community.” Said Mandy Jones, Paul Sartori Foundation Registered Nurse.
Paul Sartori Hospice at Home provides a range of services to Pembrokeshire people living in the final stages of a life-limiting illness, including home nursing care, equipment loan, complementary therapy, bereavement and counselling support, under 18’s anticipatory grief and bereavement support, physiotherapy, advance care planning and training.
The services provided by the Paul Sartori Hospice at Home enable people in the later stages of any life-limiting illness to be cared for and to die at home with dignity, independence, pain free and surrounded by those they hold most dear, if that is their wish.
All of the services are free of charge and are available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, thanks to the generosity of the Pembrokeshire Community.
Further information on the charity and its services can be obtained by visiting their website www.paulsartori.org, or by phoning 01437 763223.
