The Milford Haven School’s Tags on the Tree project has been running for a number of very successful years, each year supporting PATCH who is our Defender House Charity and their annual Toy Appeal.
In early November a very special Christmas tree was decorated with tags, each tag featured the anonymised details of a child living within our local community.
These are all children that are affected by deprivation and have been referred to PATCH for the Toy Appeal.
All members of our school staff team are invited to take part in Tags on the Tree by choosing a tag, buying a gift for that child and popping it back under the tree. The presents are then collected by PATCH in time for delivery for Christmas.
After a successful year in 2023 launching the initiative within the community, Milford Haven School and Patch teamed up to take the initiative Pembrokeshire wide and introduced multiple new locations that people could access tags from. The new locations included Milford Haven Library, Neyland Library,
Hubberston and Hakin Community Centre, Milford Youth Matters Pop Up Shop, B-Fit Gym, Pembroke Leisure Centre and Ysgol Harri Tudur.
We are extremely grateful to the support of our community and would like to thank the extra locations for getting involved and helping us to expand our project far past the gates of Milford Haven
School. We are very proud to announce that between Milford Haven School staff and everyone who collected tags from the other locations we have donated over 250 presents to the annual Patch Toy Appeal.
A special thank you to Milford Haven Round Table who also got involved and purchased gifts for 15 tags from the Milford Haven School Tree.
Mrs Wilcox, Head of Defender House, has said “I am extremely proud that Patch is our Defender House charity and that we get to support the amazing work they do. I am very grateful for the continued support of all of the staff at Milford Haven School that make this project possible and this year I would like to extend a
heartfelt thanks to our extra venues for joining forces with us to more than double our donations.
This is just one of the many projects that we run to inject as much support as we can into our community. I hope that the little bit of help we give will go a long way.”
Our amazing staff team and indeed the whole community of Milford Haven is well known for its generosity so a huge and heartfelt thank you to everyone who has supported this project.
This is evidence that together we can make a real difference to local families and the Christmas they experience.
We are very proud to be supporters of the PATCH Charity Toy Appeal.
