A record-breaking number of Pembrokeshire pupils have made a splash at a Sport Pembrokeshire Disability Swim gala.
Seventy children from 13 primary and secondary schools across the county – including some attending for the first time – took part at Fishguard Leisure Centre on Tuesday, April 8th.
The event, kindly sponsored by Valero, was noted to be the only one of its kind in Wales by Amy Brumby of Swim Wales who was also in attendance.
Such was the quality on show, some pupils’ outstanding performances saw them signposted to Pembrokeshire Puffins disability swimming squad. Everyone who took part received a medal.
The event was also supported by Gareth Mills-Bennett and Morgan Jones of Disability Sport Wales and Young ambassadors from Ysgol Bro Gwaun were part of the time and record keeping team.
Sport Pembrokeshire would like thank Pembrokeshire Leisure and all swim coordinators and County swimming staff that supported the event.
Further thanks go to Anne and Bob Adams – stalwarts of Welsh aquatics, for their ongoing support, Angela Miles Health Disability Activity Pathway Practitioner for Hywel Dda University Health Board and John Havard, recently retired swimming coach.
