Introducing the Plaid Cymru Candidates for Ceredigion-Penfro Top 4 candidates for 2026 election announced
Following a vote by members of Plaid Cymru Ceredigion and Pembrokeshire, the top 4 Plaid Cymru Ceredigion-Penfro candidates have been chosen for the 2026 Senedd election. They are:
Elin Jones
Kerry Ferguson
Anna Nicholl
Cris Tomos
Elin Jones is the current Member of Senedd for Ceredigion and has served the constituency of Ceredigion since 1999. Kerry Ferguson is a successful business owner and former Mayor of Aberystwyth, where she lives, works and is very active in the community. Anna Nicholl is from Cardigan and is experienced in Welsh politics and policies. Cris Tomos is a former cabinet member of Pembrokeshire County Council, who creates green energy and community-focused projects that have attracted significant funding to parts of Pembrokeshire.
As Elin Jones said: “I’m very pleased to be selected as top of the list for Plaid Cymru for the new constituency of Ceredigion-Penfro. I’m really looking forward to leading a campaign with great candidates on the Plaid list. It’ll be a big change for me standing in Pembrokeshire as well as Ceredigion. However, both areas have much in common. Agriculture and tourism are central to the economies of both counties, and both areas are a mix of rural and town communities. Equal access to health services is a challenge throughout Ceredigion-Penfro as is the need for good transport and communication links. We have a year to go before the Welsh Election, when the voice of west Wales needs to be heard loud and clear.”
Kerry Ferguson said:“It’s an honour for me, and I’m grateful for the confidence members have put in me. I hope that I have shown over the years my dedication to community, communications and cooperation—values that I hope to continue promoting in the Senedd. We have a lot of hard work ahead of us across the new constituency. I have my list of priorities and aims, and I’m looking forward to starting the campaign for a Plaid Cymru government in 2026.”
Anna Nichol said:“My professional career so far has been in politics and policy, which means I’m very familiar with the work of the Senedd and how we can use it to create the change our communities want to see in Ceredigion and Pembrokeshire.”
Cris Tomos said: “I’m grateful for the opportunity to be part of the Ceredigion-Penfro team of candidates standing for the election next year. My time as a County Councillor in Pembrokeshire and my work in the community will be a great asset to me as we look forward to meeting residents on the campaign trail.”
