Pure West Radio Announces ‘Adam's Bucketful of Hope’ as Charity of the Year 2025

Pure West Radio is pleased to announce that Adam's Bucketful of Hope has been selected as our Charity of the Year for 2025.
Following a successful year supporting the VC Gallery, which culminated in the reopening of the Haverfordwest branch and recognition of volunteers during Volunteer Week, we are delighted to partner with another outstanding local charity that makes a real difference to our community.
Adam's Bucketful of Hope provides vital emotional support for cancer patients and their carers through their welcoming Cancer Support Venue. The charity offers a range of services including complementary therapies, beauty treatments, podiatry, counselling, and engaging activities that help distract patients from the daily anxieties of their illness.
The charity was founded in memory of Adam Evans-Thomas, who was diagnosed with Chronic Myeloid Leukaemia 32 years ago. Despite his own battle with cancer, Adam dedicated himself to fundraising for the NHS, recruiting blood and bone marrow donors for the Welsh Blood Service.
His legacy includes the high dependency room at the Heath Hospital in Cardiff and the Pembrokeshire Haematology and Oncology Day Unit at Withybush Hospital, which was completed in December 2017, just after Adam's death at age 35.
Adam's family and friends have continued his work, opening the Cancer Support Venue in 2009. The centre has become a true community hub where those affected by cancer – who proudly call themselves "Buckateers" - can find friendship, warmth, laughter, support, and the care they need in their fight against cancer.

"We're thrilled to support Adam's Bucketful of Hope over the next 12 months" said Toby Ellis, Station Manager of Pure West Radio. "Their approach of providing a homely, supportive environment where people can find strength and community during incredibly challenging times aligns perfectly with our commitment to supporting local causes that truly matter to our listeners."
“Watching local Pembrokeshire businesses like Toby's grow through sheer hard work and dedication fills us with hope—not just for the economy, but for the people. He’s always put Pembrokeshire first, and that spirit of community has meant everything to charities like ours and the VC Gallery. Toby has been by our side since the beginning, offering help when we needed it most.
Now, as we take a bold step forward—expanding our services into a much larger space—we face our biggest challenge yet: turning Foley House into a sanctuary for cancer patients and those facing life-limiting conditions. This isn’t just a renovation project. It’s a promise. A promise to bring comfort, dignity, and support to those going through the hardest battles of their lives.
We’re hoping Toby will help us share this journey with everyone. Because when a community comes together, incredible things happen. And we believe Pembrokeshire will rally again—just as it always has.”
Pure West Radio will be supporting Adam's Bucketful of Hope through various fundraising initiatives and awareness campaigns from June 2025 for a year.
