Three Milford Haven Karate Club members cemented their place among the best in the UK at the WUKF British Championships in Dundee this month.

Josh Whatling, 20, Gethin Adams, 15, and Connor John, 14, all represented Wales all came away with medals. Josh fought superbly in the 85kg event and secured a silver medal by winning his semi final, but cruelly picked up a broken nose in the process and missed out on a chance to compete for gold. He also took bronze in the men’s senior team event.

Connor and Gethin both impressed in their individual events too despite not being able to medal, but won some superb ippons and both also took bronze in their team age group events.

Club head instructor, Sensei Kevin John was full off praise fort he trio, saying: “I’m so unbelievably proud of each one of these boys, they've given their absolute all today and they are a credit to the club and Karate Wales.

“I couldn't be prouder of them. We look forward to pushing on for Dundee and the World Championships in July.”
