Youth Open Mic launches for Narberth Civic Week
On Thursday 25th July, the Queens Hall Narberth is launching Youth Open Mic (YOM) nights as part of the Narberth Civic Week celebrations. Aimed at those between the age of 11 and 18, the upcoming July session will offer up to 10 minutes stage time for each performer to practice and hone their skills in front of a live audience.
Cherylee Barker, the Community Networking Officer for the Hall said’ “Designed in collaboration with a community steering group of artists, young people and parents, the YOM sessions are for young poets, musicians, performers and comedians – all are welcome. Our mission is to ensure young performers feel as special as possible before, during and after their performance.”
Doors open at 5pm with a show start time of 6pm and running up to 2 hours. The sessions are a safe, creative space for budding artists and musicians to play the Queens Hall stage. Sessions offer professional sound engineering and stage set-up, performer assistants and free pro photography.
Lara Herde, the Hall Manager said, “The idea grew from our existing adult Open Mic nights, which have been an exciting melting pot of local talent. We quickly realised there is a gap in provision for young performers at the Hall so we are thrilled to be working with key stakeholders to bring this project alive.”
If you’d like to come along as part of the audience, the event is free entry so don’t miss the opportunity during Narberth Civic Week to see and support the wealth of young creative talent in the community.
