Contributor

How did you get into radio?

I joined the Hospital Radio station at Morriston Hospital when I was 16 and lived in the Swansea area. After a few years of volunteering and presenting on there I was asked to be a cover Welsh language presenter on Swansea Sound  and a audio production assistant on 96.4 The Wave . I also had a short spell as the weekly Welsh Show on Valleys Radio during the summer and Autumn of 2000.
I moved to Pembrokeshire in 2000  since my move west I have had spells on Withybush FM at  Withybush Hospital, trail community stations Preseli FM and Cleddau Radio and more recently was a freelance Presenter and Welsh Language Presenter for Radio Pembrokeshire, Carmarthenshire and Radio Ceredigion before a break away from radio for a few years joined Pure West Radio in 2019

Where is your favourite place in Pembrokeshire?

Freshwater East beach. It’s only about four miles from my home so can get there in 5 minutes

Who is your hero?

I am a big fan of Billy Connolly and love his humour and ability to entertain and audience in a long career. I am also a big fan of Brian Blessed and his booming voice “Gordon’s alive”  Sports wise I admire rugby player Alun Wyn Jones who is Wales and the world most capped international  player. He is a quietish character and gives 100% on the field and is a passionate Welshman. Qualities I hope I have

What is your biggest fear?

I have a fear of heights especially sheer cliffs. Nothing turns my legs to jelly in seconds  I also have a fear of thunder and lightning and going to the dentist.

What would you change about yourself if you could?

What would you change about yourself if you could? I would say my inner and outer confidence around people and my shyness. Body wise I wished I still had a full head of hair and would love not to have baggy eyes (more like suitcases in my case)

What really makes you angry?

Animal cruelty and bullying are at the top of the list and inconsiderate people .

What motivates you to work hard?

To be around or working with other people who have the same passion . Also genuine praise and thanks for your hard work from colleuges and management goes a long way to keep your motivation

What is your favourite thing about your life?

My wife and my pets and living in Pembrokeshire. Having grown up in Swansea the slower  pace of life and friendlyness of people make it a nice place to live.

Not sure to be honest. Doing radio presenting when I am a quiet and nervous person deep down is up there also studying to  higher education level in Environmental Conservation and Marine Environment Studies

Who is the most famous person you've met?

I have served Griff Rhys Jones and Bill Bailey when I worked in Morrisons and have shared a lift with Michael Ball at the Principality Stadium. I more recently met Alun Wyn Jones at a book signing in Haverfordwest. I was also in school with BBC presenter Alex Jones and with Scarlets coach Dwayne Peel

One thing people might be surprised to know about you?

I have a growing collection of rugby jerseys in particular the Ospreys who I support and have about 25-30 of these and Wales rugby and football jerseys. These take up a lot of wardrobe space.
