Desert Life is a self-described "Alt-folk/Americana" band from south Pembrokeshire whose core members are Chris Swales and Tom Jordan.
Their debut album, Let It All Pass, has just been released on Tune Doctor Records and is available on the usual platforms.
Chris writes the songs (often in collaboration with poet Brian Mackenzie) and plays guitar and a few other instruments on the album. Tom plays trumpet and E-bow. They are joined on the album by several other local musicians including Jason Downes (drums/bass) and George Whitfield (accordion) and it was recorded and produced by Nick Swannell in his Studio 49 at Narberth.
The album is a marvellous and delightful collection of well-crafted and passionately delivered songs, songs that deal with deep human emotions which have been favourably compared with the likes of REM, Bon Iver, and Ryan Adams. Chris's lyrics and singing plus Tom's evocative trumpet are stand out features of the album.
All six songs chosen this week are taken from the album though two of them are exceptional reworkings recorded live in session for the BB Skone Show. These songs and BB's chat with them can be heard on the podcast of his show of Sunday 15th October.
Desert Life's next two gigs will take place at Boia Festival, St Davids over the weekend of 27th-29th October.
