Nature is blooming at Withybush Woods!

Three years after the launch of a project to enhance Withybush Woods, there are abundant signs that biodiversity is thriving.
Swathes of early purple orchid - a scarce wild flower - have been spotted in shadier parts of the tranquil woodlands while a pair of rare breeding stock doves have made the woods their home for the second year.

Successful Successful Open Day as guests visit new Homeless Pods

Dozens of people took the opportunity to look around the newly installed Homeless Pods in Hakin recently.
Pembrokeshire County Council held a well-attended open day on Friday 13th May 2022 where residents and interested parties were invited to have a guided tour of the pods.

Become a Force for Nature with the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park Trust

A popular mini-grant scheme run by the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park Trust is open once again for applications.
Last year, 10 local non-profit groups received Force for Nature mini-grants of up to £500 for projects with a positive environmental impact, including a community wildflower meadow and bug hotel in the village of Summerhill, biodiversity improvements at the Slash Pond Boardwalk in Broad Haven and a sensory garden at Ysgol Harri Tudur.

Knife-point robber jailed for five years

A man who robbed a woman at knifepoint has started a five-year prison sentence just one month after the attack.
Kieran Steven Brumby admitted holding a knife to the woman’s throat and demanding the £160 she was withdrawing from a cashpoint at Asda in Pembroke Dock at around 7.45pm on April 15.

A new specialist role to raise awareness and improve diagnosis of endometriosis has been created in Hywel Dda University Health Board.
Endometriosis, which affects one in ten women, can cause serious pain and discomfort to those affected by the condition.

Pembrokeshire County Show, the largest county agricultural show in Wales, is going ahead this year, over two days, on 17 and 18 August. This year’s event, the first open to the public since 2019, will be a celebration of rural life in the county.

Pembrokeshire libraries will next week hold a series of events to recognise and celebrate the incredible work of unpaid carers.
The Down Memory Lane events will be run across four sessions in Fishguard, Milford Haven, Tenby and Pembroke Dock libraries.
