Looking to the future of democracy with Pembrokeshire’s young people

Young people filled the Council chamber recently as they got involved with Democracy Matters.
The event organised by Pembrokeshire County Council Chairman Cllr Pat Davies with the Electoral Services Team and the Children and Young People’s Rights Office was well attended by invited youngsters.

Off-duty Pembroke Dock firefighter assists lifeguards with CPR

On Friday, February 3rd an off-duty Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service firefighter administered lifesaving CPR to a gentleman experiencing a cardiac arrest.
Lee Murray, a Crew Manager at Pembroke Dock Fire Station, was enjoying his regular morning swim at Pembroke Leisure Centre when he noticed some commotion at the side of the swimming pool. On leaving the pool to see what was happening, Lee saw lifeguards assisting a gentleman who had collapsed and was experiencing a cardiac arrest.

Half term hot dogs and soup for all

This week’s soup pop-up at County Hall is an extra family-friendly affair with hot dogs also on offer.
The weekly soup evenings in the former canteen have been growing in popularity and on Thursday, 23rd February the doors will be open from 3.30pm to 5.30pm.

Health Board will discuss Solva Surgery on 23 February

The future of Solva GP Surgery will be discussed by Hywel Dda University Health Board at an extraordinary meeting on Thursday 23 February 2023.
Following the decision by the single-handed GP Contractor to resign their General Medical Services contract with the Health Board, an engagement exercise was undertaken to gather patient and local stakeholder views on the future of services for patients.

Emotional Family Reunion for Firefighter

A Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service firefighter had an emotional reunion with his family yesterday (Thursday, February 16th) after returning home from saving lives as part of the UK Government’s response to the earthquake catastrophe in Turkey.

The Haverfordwest branch of Specsavers chose local Hospice at Home provider as their charity partner for 2022.
Kaitlynne Cutajar, the Community Champion for the Haverfordwest Branch chose Paul Sartori Foundation to benefit from their fundraising efforts in 2022.

Fatal 5: Police support national campaign targeting use of mobiles while driving

DRIVERS are four times more likely to crash if they’re using a phone, police have warned as they support a national road safety campaign.
To crack down on the issue of people using their phone while driving, the four Welsh police forces, along with GoSafe are supporting a National Police Chiefs Council campaign starting today (February 20) under our Fatal 5 campaign.

Welsh public urged to back local charity in chase for £5,000

A life-saving charity in Wales has called on the country’s residents to back its quest to win top prize in a UK-wide competition – and with it £5,000.
St John Ambulance Cymru is one of 12 finalists from around the UK going before a public vote in the Selco Community Heroes competition, which attracted nearly 2,000 entries.
